About Us

TMI Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Surgery was founded in 2004 by Dr Keith Meister who was at the time a tenured Associate Professor in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Florida, serving as Team Physician for the Gators. After having spent his first 11 years in academic practice in Gainesville he was recruited by the Texas Rangers Major League Baseball club to come to Texas and provide medical services for the team. In July of 2004 the first TMI office was opened in Arlington, Texas in a small 1100 sq. ft office with two full time employees.

In 2005, expansion soon followed, with increased office space and a complete physical therapy sports medicine facility. After several years of growth and establishment of the practice, partners were added encompassing additional disciplines within Orthopedic surgery.

After two years of planning and construction, in March of 2015, the principle office of the practice was opened. The building consisted of almost 22,000 square feet of physician office space, a state-of-the-art physical therapy center, biomechanics lab / research center, and outdoor training facility. From that point the practice grew quickly adding additional world-class surgical physicians covering the areas of sports medicine, spine care, joint replacement, and orthopedic trauma. Additionally, as an integral part of the practice we are staffed with sub-specialized physical therapists, athletic trainers, strength and conditioning coaches, and experts in exercise science / kinesiology. An additional full service TMI facility was opened in Frisco, TX in January 2018.

In a relatively short time period “TMI” has become one of the true centers of excellence for Orthopedic care on a local, regional, national, and international level.
