Job Summary: The Revenue Cycle Manager is responsible for leading TMI Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Surgery’s Revenue Cycle management (RCM) functional areas to meet organizational, and patient needs while fulfilling contractual, legal, and regulatory requirements. The Manager plans and directs RCM operations and provides strategic advice and direction. This position leads process improvement initiatives within RCM functional areas including fee schedule maintenance, reimbursement, accounts receivables, cash flow management, billing, coding, and collections. The Revenue Cycle Manager develops, monitors, and assesses business metrics in order to refine processes and improve efficiencies. The Manager also evaluates RCM performance and regularly provides status reports to the Director of Operations and other executive leadership as requested and fosters relationships with IT, Accounting and Operations.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead revenue cycle functional areas to ensure cash efficiencies and business processes while fostering an atmosphere of customer service, teamwork, and continuous process improvement.
  • Manage day-to-day operations of Revenue Cycle Department and related functional areas including fee schedule maintenance, reimbursement, accounts receivables, cash flow management, billing and collections to ensure accurate and timely billing and collections, month-end close procedures, as well as completion of financial reports and other financial analyses. Provide ad-hoc analytical support to revenue cycle operations teams.
  • Audit and manage revenue cycle team members’ performance including billing, payment posting/cash application and accounts receivable, and third-party billing application.
  • Ensure performance outcomes in cash flow and revenue reductions, billing, collection, accounts receivables, and follow-up activities are monitored within each functional area and aligned with Organizational goals and strategies, and in order to meet or exceed accounts receivables (A/R) targets. Play a key role in connecting operational and executive leadership with timely, accurate, and comprehensive insight into the financial health of the organization.
  • Monitor effectiveness of billing/revenue systems and lead improvement initiatives as determined necessary.
  • Ensure internal controls surrounding revenue cycle management are effective and abide by organizational and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist in developing and recommend revenue cycle management policies as determined necessary. Serves as subject matter expert in Revenue Cycle data, including knowledge of data efficiencies and deficiencies.
  • Foster a culture of learning designed to meet the changing healthcare reimbursement landscape.
  • Maintain system for prompt response to claim and payment format and related billing needs
  • Assist in analysis required or implementation of special projects.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Director of Operators or COO
  • Comply with all Organizational Policies, Procedures and Personnel Policies

Job Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited program in Business, Accounting or related area, or equivalent experience is required.

Specific Job Experience

  • 5 years working in healthcare revenue cycle or related field.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications. (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality and security of sensitive, privileged communications and work product.
  • Ability to utilize Electronic Heath Care Record system for documentation to patients’ account/record
  • 3-5 experience managing staff
  • Excellent computer experience
  • Knowledge of third-party insurance and billing practices
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Prior customer service experience

Must have the ability to analyze and interpret data and translate into useful management information. Must have people and results oriented management skills. A decisive team leader, with an ability to energize team members for high-performance, while, at the same time, teach them to embrace organizational and procedural changes. In-depth knowledge of billing and payment practices. Ability to resolve revenue cycle issues in a timely manner. Must possess proven skills with healthcare revenue cycle processes improvement and management. Must have ability to deal effectively with all levels of the organization, as well as being skilled in external communications.
